Elmer's 37 Grasshopper Engine

Invented by William Freemantle in 1803, the 'Grasshopper' was a very popular design, both in real life and in modeling. Take note especially of the model built by the incomparable Jerry Kieffer. Many of his models are on display at the Internet Craftsmanship Museum. To better understand the size of this model, note the wristwatch movement sitting on the base. Jerry's tools may look a little different, as he has a microscope mounted on many of his tools.
